Grieving Father Of Daughters Shot By Their Own Mother Speaks Out

'If you have loved ones, tell them you love them every day'

Jason Sheits has laid his two daughters, Taylor and Madison, who were shot dead by their mother last week, to rest with a moving funeral service in Alabama.

The sisters, 22 and 17, were gunned down by their mother, with their father, 45-year-old Sheats left alive “to punish him”.

“If you have loved ones, tell them you love them every day, and give them a hug because you never know, it might be your last day,” the grieving father told friends and relatives at the service, according to WAFF

“He said one thing with his children he knows he has peace with, is that he loved his kids, Sheats’ former classmate Marsha Hill also told WAFF.

“His kids knew that he loved him, and his kids loved him. And he showed them and kissed them and loved him every day. That shows a lot.”

22-year-old Taylor was due to be married just days after her tragic death, and her fiancé, Juan Sebastian Lugo, 23, also attended the service.

The girls’ mother, Christy Sheats, who was shot by police at the scene after she reportedly refused to drop her gun, was not buried with her daughters and it remains unclear where her grave will be.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by a number of Sheats close friends to help him get through the tragedy, and has so far raised US$6,730.

“This is a fundraising campaign for our dear friend who suffered a tragedy that no one should have to experience.”
