Here’s Everything We Know So Far About ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 4

Blessed be the squad!

The Handmaid’s Tale, based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood, has been confirmed for a fourth season at Hulu, Variety reports. According to the publication, the gripping drama is the streaming service’s “most-watched” show, so it’s not surprising the dystopian tale of Gilead is getting another season.

On Feb. 26, the streaming service debuted the Elisabeth Moss-lead teaser trailer for its upcoming season, as well as revealing the Emmy Award-winning show will premiere on April 28.

Below, everything we know so far about The Handmaid’s Tale season four.

A brand new trailer was just released.

On March 31, the Hulu series got its first full-length trailer—and it looks like June is Gilead’s public enemy No.1.

It will premiere in 2021.

Hulu announced that the next season of Handmaid’s will arrive on April 28, 2021. The streaming service also shared a teaser that includes tense action scenes from the previous season, plus some clips of what lies ahead.

It will follow June’s fight for freedom.

Here’s a Season four plot summary: “The cultural phenomenon picks up where we left off, with June’s fight for freedom against Gilead. But the risks she takes bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges, and her desire for justice and revenge threaten to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships.”

There will be 10-episodes.

Scaling back from the 13-episode length of previous seasons, Season four will consist of only 10 episodes, just like Season 1. “Some storylines just seem to shake out as a 10-episode story, in my eyes,” showrunner Bruce Miller told IndieWire in January 2020.

The structure will allow the show to give ample time to delve into a smaller part of the story, as multiple arcs won’t be used this season, the outlet reported. “I feel like it gives us a little more freedom because you can rely more on one propulsive element,” Miller added.

The original cast will return.

Season four will be entirely from June’s (Elisabeth Moss) perspective.
