Harry Styles and His Lush Locks are Set to Play Prince Eric

Us and our five-year-old selves are ready!

The live-action remake of The Little Mermaid is on its way to being a musical, comedic and visual masterpiece with a Gucci-clad Prince Eric.

After Director Rob Marshall announced R&B artist Halle Bailey as Ariel, rumours have emerged surrounding the rest of the cast, with Harry Styles said to be an early standout for heartthrob Prince Eric.

Styles made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk in 2017 and was said to be shortlisted as Elvis in Baz Luhrmnan’s upcoming biopic, before losing out to Austin Butler yesterday. Comedian Melissa McCarthy and Crazy Rich Asians actress Awkwafina are also reportedly in talks to join Bailey under the sea.

The remake will feature Disney classics from The Little Mermaid’s original composer, Alan Menken and new music by Lin-Manuel Miranda. A musical number or two isn’t off the cards for Styles either. Unlike the original, Eric performs two solos in the Broadway musical.

With no news on when fans can expect new music from the singer, Styles has our approval – even if it’s Ariel he’s charming.
