Both Prince Harry And Prince William Invited Exes To Their Wedding

This is why

When Oprah and George and Amal Clooney are on the guest list alongside the Beckhams, it’s safe to say that scoring an invite to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May 19th wedding was no easy fete.

So when onlookers saw not one, but two of Harry’s ex-girlfriends making their way into Windsor Castle, many wondered how – or more to the point – why they made the cut.

Both Chelsy Davy, who dated the new Duke of Sussex for seven years, and Cressida Bonas, who was with him for two years, attended the ceremony, before heading to a luxury luncheon reception hosted by the Queen.

But it turns out Harry’s not the first to invite former flames to a royal wedding. Prince William managed to invite four exes to his 2011 wedding to Kate Middleton, despite meeting Kate at uni.

At Wills and Kate’s nuptials, Jecca Craig, who briefly dated William while they were teenagers, Olivia Hunt, who dated William at university before Kate, Rose Farquhar, who he was in a short relationship with, and Isabella Calthorpe, who he reportedly used to have a big crush on.

It appears that the reason behind the string of exes receiving royal invitations is because the brothers run in a tight-knit circle of friends, many of whom stay friends once their romantic relationships have finished.

Chelsy was even close enough to the family that she was invited to Wills and Kate’s wedding.

Let’s also not forget that in 1981, Prince Charles invited the then Camilla Parker-Bowles to his wedding to Princess Diana, as well as Lady Sarah Spencer – Diana’s sister – who he had also dated.

What a tradition!
