Harvey Weinstein’s wife, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, separated from her husband after the first wave of sexual harassment allegations were levelled against him, but precious little has been reported about her since then.
The fashion designer and mother-of-two has avoided all public events since the scandal started making headlines, People reports, but now one of Chapman’s closest friends has spoken out about her emotional state.
Alyssa Milano, who met Chapman on the Weinstein-produced Project Runway All Stars five years ago, revealed to Today that her friend “goes through very dark times.”
“She’s very sad,” Milano said. “This is not easy for her, but I have no doubt that not only will she come out on the other side of this, but she deserves too.”
“She’s an amazing woman, and I think her priority right now is focusing on how to raise those two children to the best of her capacity given the situation.”
Chapman, 41, and Weinstein, 65, married in December 2007 and have two children, India Pearl, who is seven years old, and Dashiell Max Robert, four.
“My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions,” Chapman said in a statement to People in October. “I have chosen to leave my husband.”
“Caring for my children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time.”
