New York Times journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey were pivotal in bringing down Harvey Weinstein. They investigated the allegations of sexual abuse against the media mogul, tracing down settlement documents, speaking with victims and getting celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan to share their stories.
Already, Kantor and Twohey have won a Pulitzer prize for their 2018 article that detailed years of sexual misconduct by Weinstein, and just last month, they released a book, She Said, which reveals insights on how they took Weinstein down.
Now, their investigation is being turned into a movie. According to Variety, indie screenwriter Rebecca Lenkiewicz (Disobedience, Ida and Colette) will be writing the screenplay.
“The film is being described as in the vein of All the President’s Men, a procedural that looks at the process by which investigative reporters chase leads and untangle scandals,” says Variety.
While we wait for the cast, title and release date to be announced, you can catch one of the other major #MeToo stories on the big screen in January. Bombshell, starring Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie is inspired by the events that led to the fall of Fox News’ Roger Ailes in 2016 after more than 20 women accused him of sexual harassment.
