Of the 2000 women surveyed, 73 per cent reported back pain, and 28 per cent said they were aware that clothing can affect their posture, but did not take this into account when getting dressed.
But it’s not just your skinny jeans, the study also cited hoods, cross-body bags, statement necklaces, asymmetrical hemlines and bell sleeves among the culprits.
“New trends such as asymmetric hemlines, oversized sleeves and hoods and heavy jewellery can also create problems,” BCA chiropractor Tim Hutchful tells News Corp.
“Large hoods can mean you strain your neck in order to see, and asymmetric hemlines, especially if tight-fitting, can restrict your movement and cause you to walk differently,” he added.
“Oversized sleeves can cause you to hold your arms in a different or unusual way, so once again your body will be compensating for your fashion choices.”
So what does Hutchful suggest us fashionistas do with said warnings? Well it’s all about enjoying your fashion in moderation, and limiting your “restrictive” items throughout the week.
So we'll take that as: doctor told me I need to go shopping!
