Hillary Clinton and Kim Kardashian are the latest celebrities to come out in support of Meghan Markle after Prince Harry’s impassioned letter condemning the British press’ treatment of his wife.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the former First Lady said that she supports the royal couple’s decision to sue the Mail on Sunday, after the outlet published a private letter Meghan sent to her father, Thomas. “I do want to say that the way she’s been treated is inexplicable,” Clinton said, confirming that she thinks racism “certainly part of it.”

“If the explanation is that she’s biracial, then shame on everybody,” she added.

Chelsea Clinton, who joined her mother for the interview, said that she thinks Meghan’s public role prior to meeting Prince Harry is another reason people seem to have a problem with the duchess. “She proudly had a career first and has a voice that she thankfully continues to use,” she explained. “Anyone who has the temerity to break the mold of what has previously been established and expected often, unfortunately, receives criticism and bile that I don’t understand. We’ve seen this pattern repeatedly.”

Chelsea continued: “I don’t know her, but as someone who respects her, I’m so grateful that she persists, and is unbowed, and is doing work she feels called to do. And isn’t willing to be bullied.”

Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian spoke out about Harry and Meghan during an appearance at the Armenia Technology Convention in Yerevan on Monday, saying that she supports the royal couple, but it pays to note that they are not perfect.

“I think that everyone makes their own choices and decisions,” she said when a reporter asked for her thoughts on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. “And I think that, like I said, no one’s gonna be perfect. I’m not, they’re not. I don’t know who is.”
