Over the years, H&M’s designer collaborations have always been met with global sell-outs and praise for bringing “couture to the high street”. From Giambattista Valli to Alexander Wang, the Swedish retailer’s designer collections allow consumers access to much-loved and coveted brands while remaining true to the design aesthetic. For the first time ever, H&M is teaming up with an Australian label, cult athleisure brand P.E. Nation

The Sydney-based brand has become known and loved for its multi-faceted activewear and lifestyle pieces made for the modern woman, and its newest collaboration comes with a focus on “more sustainable fabrics”. Co-founders Clarie Tregoning and Pip Edwards say the collection features a “hybrid” of P.E. and H&M’s best-selling pieces, using the retailers current seasonal colour palette.

“The best part about the collection is that is using all sustainable fabrics,” Tregoning tells marie claire Australia ahead of the launch. “All H&M’s suppliers are certified too, and it’s mainly using P.E. recycled bottles for the legs and the crops, and the jackets and sprays.”

“It’s also 100 per cent organic cotton for the tees, tanks and sweats.”

Edwards adds, “With the H&M collaboration, we want women all over the world to live a more confident, vibrant, fashionable life whilst juggling her fast-paced urban existence. The collection can be worn all day, every day, whilst being flexible, functional and style-led. All the pieces work so well together – it’s very easy to mix and match.”

As for how it feels to be the first Australian collaboration to work with the Swedish fashion giant, Tregoning and Edwards are “honoured”.

“I think what’s amazing is to be part of their collaboration portfolio,” says Edwards. “You’re in the realm of Alexander Wang, Stella McCartney, Giambattista Valli and Balmain. As an Australian brand, we’re f*cking proud.”

You can expect to see the P.E. Nation DNA weaved throughout the collaboration, with figure-flattering leggings and colour-blocked sprays at the forefront. You’ll also find large logos and tie-dye mixed amongst elastic waistbands and zip detailing. The activewear, T-shirts, skirts, swimwear and undergarments have the distinctive P.E Nation retro vibe that we’ve come to expect, with both classic and new colours mixed in including mint green, grey marle and tan.

The collaboration will be available in stores worldwide as well as on hm.com from March 5.
