‘House Of Cards’ Staffers Accuse Kevin Spacey Of Sexual Assault And Harassment

"He was a man in a very powerful position on the show"

Just days after explosive allegations emerged that Kevin Spacey made sexual advances towards a 14-year-old, eight House of Cards employees have accused Spacey of sexual harassment or misconduct on the set of the hit series.

As CNN Money reports, one House of Cards production assistant alleges that Spacey sexually assaulted him during an early season of the show. The assistant says Spacey put his hands down his pants while he was driving the actor to the House of Cards set.

“I was in a state of shock,” the assistant explained. “He was a man in a very powerful position on the show and I was someone very low on the totem pole and on the food chain there.”

The unnamed assistant said Spacey then approached him while they were in a trailer and inappropriately propositioned him.

“I told him, ‘I don’t think I’m ok with this, I don’t think I’m comfortable with this,'” the production assistant said.

Other allegations from the House of Cards employees—past and present—include “non-consensual touching” and “crude comments”, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

In a statement to CNN, Netflix explained that the company was “just made aware of one incident, five years ago, that we were informed was resolved swiftly.”

“On Tuesday, in collaboration with MRC, we suspended production, knowing that Kevin Spacey wasn’t scheduled to work until Wednesday,” the statement continues.

“Netflix is not aware of any other incidents involving Kevin Spacey on-set”.

This week the streaming giant announced that season six will be the last installment of House of Cards.
