How to Choose The Right Mask For These 4 Common Skin Conditions

Dull skin, city pollutants, open pores, sensitive skin… life doesn’t have to be so dull. In fact, Mother Nature is a beauty when it comes to gorgeousness – and she has armed us with all the super-nourishing, super-clarifying and super-detoxifying natural ingredients we need for clearer, smoother skin and a glowing complexion.

But where do you find them? Here! Find your skin gripe below AND the best face mask (using Mother Nature’s finest natural ingredients) to blitz those narky skin problems and reclaim your glow.

The issue: Dull skin

Dull skin can be caused by lack of exfoliation (sloughing away the dead skin cells that sit on the surface of our skin), as well as lifestyle factors that delete the skin of oxygen and nutrients, such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, not enough sleep, dehydration and poor diet.

The mask: Swisse Blood Orange Brightening Clay Mask

How does it work? This brightening clay mask targets dullness, uneven skin tone and helps protect the skin from environmental damage. The powerful combination of Australian yellow clay and bentonite clay helps to purify and draw out impurities.

The natural ingredients

Swisse Blood Orange Brightening Clay Mask is formulated with blood orange oil and includes papaya fruit extract, a gentle exfoliant that polishes, repairs and revitalises the skin’s appearance, and niacinamide to assist with the appearance of pigmentation. It is enriched with a combination of active botanicals, such as turmeric extract, which assists with revitalising and soothing the appearance of irritated skin caused by environmental damage.

Suitable for: All skin types

The issue: Blocked pores

Blocked pores can be caused by a range of reasons including lack of exfoliation (see Dull skin, above), makeup build-up, bacteria, not having a good skin care regimen, hormones, sweat, excessive oil production and more. The result is a build-up of dirt, oil and dead skin, which blocks and clogs the pores.

The mask: Swisse Cranberry Pore Perfecting Clay Mask

How does it work? This luxurious pore-refining mask helps to unclog pores and clear skin for a luminous, smooth and glowing complexion. It’s made from a powerful combination of Australian pink clay and bentonite clay and other naturally derived ingredients that together help to:

*    Provide a deep cleanse

*    Remove dead skin cells for glowing skin

*    Shrink large pores

*    Absorb excess oil

*    Draw out impurities

*    Keep oil and dirt from clogging pores

The natural ingredients: As well as Australian pink clay, the mask is formulated with lemon fruit extract and white willow bark extract (natural AHAs and BHAs) which help the exfoliation process by sloughing dead skin cells and soothing blemishes, making way for fresh, radiant and bright skin; cranberry fruit extract to help prevent clogging of pores and reduce oil build-up on skin; and dragon fruit extract (a rich source of antioxidants) to help protect the skin from free radicals for a more youthful, smooth appearance.

Suitable for: All skin types

The issue: Blemish-prone skin

Blemishes often begin as blocked pores. These can be caused by a range of factors such as dead skin build-up (see Blocked pores, above), as well as an increase in the production of sebum (a natural oil we produce). This excess oil then blocks the pores (the opening in the skin where sebum normally flows out). Blemishes can spiral out of control quickly if left untreated, with sebum and dead skin cells building up and blocking the skin opening, causing comedones (blackheads or whiteheads).

The mask: Swisse Manuka Honey Detoxifying facial mask with Charcoal + Kaolin Clay

How does it work? This super nourishing and detoxifying mask helps purify blemish prone skin thanks to its beneficial ingredients, leaving it feeling smooth and hydrated.

The natural ingredients: The star ingredient is the Manuka honey, which is rich in antibacterial compounds, combined with charcoal and Australian kaolin clay to help remove dead skin cells. Other naturally derived ingredients include aloe vera for its soothing properties, kelp and red algae extract, known to help soften and hydrate dry skin.

Suitable for: Combination skin

The issue: Toxins and environmental pollutant build-up

City smog, car fumes, bacteria spread from our fingers and other environmental pollutants can all end up on our face as we brave the day from 9 to 5 – and that’s no good for our skin. These pollutants can cause a range of issues from blocked pores to dull skin and more.

The mask: Swisse Matcha Tea Anti-Pollution Clay Mask with Australian Green Clay

How does it work? This anti-pollution clay mask helps protect the skin from impurities caused by toxins, pollution and environmental triggers. It also restores and replenishes dullness, and soothes and calms the skin, for a more revitalised, healthy looking complexion. But wait, there’s more… The powerful combination of Australian green clay and bentonite clay helps to purify and absorb excess oil and draw out impurities.

The natural ingredients: Formulated with matcha green tea extract, an antioxidant-rich ingredient which reduces the appearance of stressed, tired skin and protects from free radical damage, leaving the skin feeling revitalised and smooth. The mask is enriched with shiitake mushroom extract to assist with irritated skin, and special botanicals such as algae extract that deeply hydrates the skin to restore its moisture levels.

Suitable for: Sensitive skin. The luxurious Australian green water clay has an immediate cooling effect and is great for soothing sensitive skin.
