Hollywood’s biggest night of the year is finally upon us. After two long months of glamorous awards shows, A-list celebrities will join together for the 91st Academy Awards to celebrate the best of film in 2018.
The awards ceremony never fails to pull out all the stops from iconic red carpet looks to dramatic moments (who can forget the shock when La La Land was declared the winner in error) and show-stopping performances. We’re highly anticipating a lot from this year, from what our A-listers will wear to the much-hyped Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s ‘Shallow’ performance, and of course, who will take the gold statues home.

When is the 2019 Oscars?
The 91st Academy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 24 from 2.30pm US local time, which for us in the southern hemisphere will be Monday, February 25 9.30am AEDT. It will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, where the awards show has taken place since 2001.
Where can I watch the Oscars in Australia?
The red carpet coverage will begin on Monday, March 5 from 9am on E! Australia (on Foxtel) and Channel Nine will air the ceremony at 12pm.
Who is hosting the Oscars?
In what will be the first time in thirty years, the Oscars will not have a host for this year’s ceremony. Initially, comedian Kevin Hart was announced as the host but quit the gig due to controversy over homophobic tweets that re-surfaced from years ago. The Academy struggled to find a replacement and instead will have multiple presenters throughout the evening.
Who will be performing?
The most anticipated moment of the night is no doubt Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s duet performance. They will both be performing their hit song ‘Shallow’ from their nominated film A Star Is Born. Other performances will include Jennifer Hudson, Bette Midler (who will perform Mary Poppins Returns nominated song ‘The Place Where Lost Things Go’), Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. The Academy has recently confirmed that Queen alongside Adam Lambert are set to perform on the night following the success of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Which film has the most nominations?
Leading the nominations for this year’s Oscars, The Favourite and Roma each have 10 nominations including Best Picture.
