Yeah Baby, Hugh Grant Is Open To Another ‘Bridget Jones’ Film

Look out Colin Firth

In great news for Daniel Cleaver fans, Hugh Grant has revealed he’s open to doing another Bridget Jones film, after refusing to be a part of Bridget Jones’ Baby.

The British actor was asked about Bridget Jones 4 at a press conference, and wasn’t totally opposed to the idea. “I don’t know, I don’t know. It depends on the story,” he said. That’s certainly not a ‘no’…

Grant turned down a role in 2016’s Bridget Jones’ Baby because he couldn’t see the vision for his character, “I could never make him work in that story… I just didn’t know how Daniel Cleaver would react to [Bridget’s pregnancy]. I thought he would run away from the situation.”

Even when they rewrote the script so Daniel completely changed and was into having a baby, Grant wasn’t feeling it, “I thought: That’s just not him. And in the end, we gave up.”

As a result, Patrick Dempsey played Colin Firth’s rival and Grant was ~killed off~.

At the very end of Bridget Jones’ Baby, it was revealed Daniel Cleaver was found alive a year after his supposed death.

If that’s not an invitation to do BJ4, I don’t know what is.

In more positive news from the same press conference, Grant revealed he wasn’t opposed to sequels. “I think we’re gonna do a Four Weddings sequel-ette for Comic Relief. That seems to be the plan,” he said.
