If you found yourself glued to your screen when watching Ratched or American Horror Story, there might be a commonality, besides Ryan Murphy, that kept you coming back for more.
Thanks to her chilling performances in both shows, Sarah Paulson is back for her next freaky flick, Run.
Directed by Aneesh Chaganty, who co-wrote 2018’s social media thriller Searching, the Hulu film deals with an anxiety-inducing relationship between a mother and her 17-year-old chronically ill daughter, who can seemingly never get out of the sight of her mother, who as it slowly turns out may be up to no good.
The premise of the film may feel familiar to true crime fans who’ve seen The Act. Much like the film, that same style of helicopter parenting reaches a whole new level in Run, seemingly taking cues from the real-life Munchausen-by-proxy case of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

What Is The Plot Of Run?
If you’re a fan of Paulson’s past spine-tingling caretaker roles, then Run is sure to please. The film follows Paulson as Diane Sherman, who is an overprotective mother with a sinister secret.
Diane’s main focus is caring for her chronically ill daughter Chloe—including preparing all of her meals, giving her medication, and helping her with physical therapy—we quickly learn that not everything is what it appears to be. In fact, Chloe might not even be Diane’s daughter at all.
And after an odd incident with a new medication—where Chloe notices something off about the label—it leads her daughter to suspect, for the first time, that all might not be right with her ‘mother’, Diane.

Who Is In The Cast Of Run?
Fans of Ratched and American Horror Story will be pleased to hear that Sarah Paulson (Oceans 8, Bird Box) plays the lead, Diane Sherman, who is the mother of newcomer Kiera Allen’s (Ethan & Skye) Chloe Sherman.
Joining Paulson and Allen is Pat Healy (The Innkeepers) as Ted Sherman, Sarah Sohn (Furious 7, Sense8) as Kammy and Onalee Ames (Shall We Dance?) as a character called Crying Hands.
