Lara and Sam Worthington have welcomed their second child, a son born two weeks ago in New York, it has been confirmed to marie claire Australia.
And new mum Lara “couldn’t be happier,” a family friend reveals of the 29-year-old beauty mogul who graces the magazine’s December issue, out on Thursday.
The newborn, who was due mid October, joins big brother, 18-month-old Rocket Zot. The notoriously private couple are yet to reveal his name, says the family friend, and “are just focused on enjoying this special time together, and settling into a new routine.”
Speaking to marie claire exclusively from her family’s adopted hometown just before giving birth, Lara said: “I’m excited about giving Rocket a sibling. Sam has a sister and I have a brother, so creating that same sense of family is special and I know they’ll have lots of fun together, especially being so close in age.”
Lara also praised her Hollywood star husband, 40, for his “hands-on” parenting style, calling him an “amazing dad”. “Sam and I will share the routines with our newborn so that Rocket still gets one-on-one time with both of us. We’re a little team,” she reveals to the magazine. “Sam has a really strong bond with Rocket; they’re like two peas in a pod.”
While Lara says pregnancy was easier the second time around, the 29-year-old concedes to marie claire that her new life as a working mother-of-two juggling family with her business – her beauty line, The Base by Lara Bingle – will be hectic. “Some days I’m overwhelmed thinking, ‘How am I going to do it all?’ Running a business with two babies under two is not going to be easy. But I’ve learnt to step back, breathe and prioritise.”
Lara’s other commitments include working with powerhouse beauty brand Dior as she showcases Dior’s new Christmas makeup range on the December cover of marie claire.
“Dior is one of the world’s most respected and admired brands with so much heritage,” says Lara, “so I was thrilled be able to work with them on this cover story.”
