They say the best way to heal a heartbreak is in the arms of another, and for the real-life Aquaman Jason Momoa, that phrase was definitely true earlier this year.
Following his surprising split from actress Lisa Bonet in January, the Game Of Thrones alumni was romantically linked to Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez in February of this year.
While the world was quick to speculate, a source revealed to PEOPLE that “they’re both busy with work but are having fun together. It’s nothing serious yet”.
But, it seems the pair had major differences which prevented them from becoming anything serious. An insider, who spoke to PEOPLE, confirmed that the pair had split because they were “just very different people.”
Another source claimed that the pair are “hoping they might work it out” and “love each other very much.”
“They are in different life stages,” the source added.
González is 10 years younger than Momoa.
Momoa is currently filming the upcoming Fast X film, the tenth instalment in the Fast & Furious series. Gonzalez is also rumoured to appear in the project, so fans have speculated that the couple could have possibly met on set.
However, in the world of Hollywood romances, where random pairings are seemingly normal and makeups and breakups commonplace, there’s no guessing how and where the pair actually connected.
Considering that Gonzalez dated Momoa’s Dune co-star Timothée Chalamet in 2020, we’re wondering if the Academy Award nominee potentially had a hand in setting up the couple.
As for Momoa and Bonet’s relationship, the former couple share two children together, 14-year-old Lola and 13-year-old Nakoa-Wolf. They had been dating since 2005 but wed in October 2017.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight last month about their co-parenting abilities, a source that that, “Jason and Lisa are still committed to being friends for the sake of their family. They both want each other to be happy.”
