Transparent Actor Jeffrey Tambor Quits Show After Sexual Harassment Allegations

"I don’t see how I can return to Transparent"

Following two sexual harassment accusations, Transparent actor Jeffrey Tambor has announced he will not be returning to the Amazon series.

Amazon studios are investigating the sexual harassment allegations made by Transparent actress Trace Lysette, as well as Tambor’s former assistant, Van Barnes. Tambor has repeatedly denied the accusations against him.

The Emmy-Award winning actor, who plays a transgender woman on the show, says he will not be returning for season five.

“Playing Maura Pfefferman on Transparent has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life,” Tambor told Deadline.

“What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago.

Tambor continued: “I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue.

“Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I can return to Transparent.”

On November 17, Lysette alleged that Tambor made sexual and unwelcome comments to her while they were working together, the ABC reports.

“Jeffrey has made many sexual advances and comments at me, but one time it got physical,” she shared on Twitter.

“I call on Amazon to make another bold affirmative move to our communities, remove the problem and let the show go on.”
