Jennifer Aniston And Reese Witherspoon To Star In A New TV Show Together

We've never been so excited

It’s been over a decade since Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon joined forces to play sisters on Friends, now they’re signing on for a small-screen reunion and we couldn’t be more excited.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that the pair are set to star in (and executive produce) an untitled project about morning shows and the larger New York media scene.

If you’re thinking this will be a TV tribute of sorts to films like The Ugly Truthand Morning Glory, think again. The project is based on an original idea that was created by former HBO head of drama Michael Ellenberg, and is going to be written by House of Cards‘ Jay Carson. With a team like that it’s safe to assume the TV show will be more of a sharp, witty drama than a romantic comedy.

Both actresses have proved their fine acting chops in recent years, as they move away from the (highly enjoyably) rom-com fluff genre that made them household names. Reese enjoyed a starring turn in the captivating HBO series Big Little Lies, while Jen was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in Cake, and wowed audiences with her comedic range in films including Horrible Bosses and We’re The Millers.

The publication reports that the TV package has not yet been taken out to market, though it is expected to draw interest from multiple bidders including HBO and Netflix.

We can’t wait for our first look at the new series! Congratulations to both stars.
