Jennifer Aniston Says ‘Friends’ Would Never Work In 2017

She does have a point.

Sorry everyone, but it looks like a Friends reunion won’t be happening anytime soon. Devastating, we know.

It turns out, Jennifer Aniston doesn’t think the show would even work in 2017.

The actress, who (as you know) played Rachel for 10 years, revealed, “We were jokingly saying that if Friends was created today you would have a coffee shop full of people that were just staring into iPhones.

“There would be no actual episodes or conversations.”

Which, unfortunately, does make quite a lot of sense.

Just imagine it: Joey would be uploading selfies from the set of Days of Our Lives, Monica would have an Instagram account dedicated to pictures of food, Rachel would upload photos of her outfit every single day, and Phoebe would have a YouTube channel dedicated to her songs.

Speaking to Arianna Huffington on her new Thrive Global Podcast with iHeart Radio, the 48-year-old actress also revealed that even she – sans any forms of social media – has a hard time putting down her phone.

She said that though she tries to start her day with meditation and a cuddle with husband, Justin Theroux, if she ends up on her phone, it’s impossible to pull herself away. “And even if you do, it’s half-assed. You’re kind of there, kind of not, and I’m not getting the benefits of what I could be getting that I usually do.”

“I honestly think I used to sleep beautifully and I don’t think I attributed to the fact that these phones came into our lives that have actually started to disrupt our sleep.”

Lisa Kudrow has also shut down a Friends reunion, with another valid point. She told the Today show“It would be fun, but what would it be about? Think about it: The thing we liked about that show was it was, like, twentysomethings, and they were their own family, and now they all have families. So what are we gonna watch?”
