On July 18, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck tied the knot in a surprise wedding in Las Vegas.
On the very same day, Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner had some much-needed alone time. But her solo trip wasn’t a coincidence, in fact, she was well aware of the impending nuptials.
According to Page Six, the outlet reported that Garner learned of Affleck and Lopez’s wedding long before the public did. Thankfully, she and their three children were informed about their plans to wed so that they didn’t learn it from the internet.
And Garner was able to spend the day on her own in Lake Tahoe, posting a photo of herself enjoying a bike ride on Instagram Stories.
However, a “well-placed” Hollywood source told Page Six that the Suddenly 30 star was given a heads up only one day before the wedding day.
“Ben did tell Jen about the wedding, but I’m told that it was only Friday at the earliest. It was very, very minimally planned in advance and was largely spur-of-the-moment,” the source shared, explaining that Affleck and Garner’s 16-year-old daughter, Violet, chose to “stay home because she’s extremely loyal to her mum”.
The insider also explained why Lopez was so eager to walk down the aisle to marry Affleck, as quickly as she could.
“[Lopez] has been ready to get married since the night that Ben proposed. She wanted to lock this down and remove any chance for cold feet ASAP!”
As we know, the Marry Me star and The Man With The Phoenix Back Tattoo were first set to wed 20 years ago, one day before the ceremony. But despite calling off the wedding in 2004, the pair reconciled in 2021 to take another go at their relationship.
Despite being on a solo trip to Lake Tahoe, Garner was still very supportive of her ex-husband’s relationship with Lopez.
Back in April, a source spoke to E! News about whether she was upset or not about Affleck and Lopez getting engaged.
“Ben told Jen and the kids, so they knew about it,” a source close to Garner informed the outlet, adding that, “Jen is happy for Ben and knows that J.Lo has been a positive influence in certain ways”.
And in late March, a source close to Garner told Entertainment Tonight that she and Affleck have a better relationship than the public might think, adding that she has always been “supportive” of the new couple.
“Jen Garner and Ben get along well. She is understanding and supportive of Jen and Ben’s relationship,” the source said.
“She knows Ben is doing well all around and at the end of the day, she just wants what’s best for the kids and for things to be seamless and unproblematic. She wants everyone to be happy and healthy and her kids are always the priority. Everyone is feeling good at this point and looking forward to the future.”
