Polish the crown and get out the (pink) bejewelled sword because we need to throw a coronation ball. That’s right, Jess Mauboy has officially risen the ranks and graduated from Pop Princess to Australia’s unrivalled Queen of the genre in 2019.
It’s been a huge year for Jess, both personally and professionally. Not only did she become engaged to her boyfriend of a decade, Themeli Magripilis (in Greece no less), but her new record HILDA debuted at #1 on the Arias Albums Chart.
But if you think that the Australian Idol alum is done for the year, and is now taking a much-deserved break over Christmas in her native Darwin, then think again! Jess has just dropped a new music video for her single Selfish, and it’s so much fun!
Not only is Jess serving up some serious looks in this video (brb while we go and buy a black vinyl trench) and is repping some of our fave Aussie labels like Toni Maticevski & Alice McCall, but she is also starring beside some absolute babes clad in, well, not very much (no complaints here!).
“This video is showing the side of me that’s playful, mature, sexy and cheeky, and helps shine the light on the different side of Jessica Mauboy and of HILDA,” said Jess, who has dedicated the album to her mother and grandmother, “I can’t wait to see you all adding it to your summer playlists, turning up the radio when you hear it, and just being super sassy and SELFISH!”
