Jessica Falkholt Dies In Hospital After Life Support Switched Off

Her sister and parents also lost their lives in the horror Boxing Day crash

Home and Away actress Jessica Falkholt has died in hospital just six days after her life support was switched off.

St George Hospital has confirmed that the 29-year-old actress passed away on Wednesday morning, weeks after the horror Boxing Day car crash, which also took the lives of Jessica’s mother, father and sister.

“On behalf of the family of Jessica Falkholt, St George Hospital has been asked to advise the media and the community of Jessica’s passing today at 10.20am,” a hospital spokesman said, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

“Jessica passed away from serious injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on 26 December, 2017.

“The family has asked for privacy during this very difficult time.”

Jessica’s father Lars, 69, her mother Vivian, 60, and her 21-year-old sister Annabelle were killed after the January 26 crash on the Princes Highway near Ulladulla. 28-year-old Jessica was also travelling with her family when a four-wheel-drive hit their car head-on.

Jessica underwent multiple surgeries, including the removal of her kidney and part of her skull. Her life support was turned off on Thursday.

The other driver, 52-year-old Ulladulla man Craig Anthony Whitall, also lost his life in the crash. According to an exclusive report from The Daily Telegraph, Whitall was a habitual offender with four jail sentences relating to traffic offences, a driving ban spanning nine years and 10 convictions for driving while disqualified.

Jessica’s family were farewelled at a ceremony at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Concord last Wednesday while she remained in a coma.

A funeral notice for the ceremony at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Concord described the Falkholt family as a “dearly loved and cherished father, mother and sister to Jessica”.

“Lars, Vivian and Annabelle will be deeply missed by Vivian’s brother Paul Ponticello, his children Paul and Natalie, along with many relatives and friends both near and far.”
