Jessica Mauboy Announced As Australia’s 2018 Eurovision Contender

We'll be cheering her on!

Jessica Mauboy made Australia proud when she appeared as a special guest at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014, and now she’s returning to the spectacularly fun competition in 2018 as our official entry.

SBS announced on Monday that the Fallin‘ singer would be Australia’s official representative and will take the stage in Lisbon, Portugal in May.

“Eurovision is a wonderfully joyous and unique event. It brings together over 40 diverse countries and cultures under one roof to unite us all in music,” Mauboy said in a statement.

“It shows how much the power of song can transcend differences.  I will sing my heart out for Australia, I’m so proud to be officially representing my country and a little bit nervous – mainly about the stress of the dress!”

The singer was the first non-European solo artist to sing at Eurovision in Copenhagen, wowing crowds with her halftime performance of Sea Of Flags.

Australian Idol fans will remember Mauboy’s star-making audition back in 2006 in Alice Springs. She has since gone on to record five top 10 albums, 15 top twenty singles and to star in Seven’s The Secret Daughter.

We can’t wait to cheer her on—and see what she sings!
