Being Meghan Markle’s best friend is one hell of a job. Apart from being subject to massive media scrutiny, there are limits to how often you can see your friend. Knocking on the door of Buckingham Palace isn’t exactly possible.
So, naturally, the world of celebrity stylist Jessica Mulroney has been something of an interest point ever since royal fans discovered the pair’s relationship. Now, Mulroney has given her first interview since the May 2018 royal wedding.
Discussing her job, her background and her biggest clients, Mulroney is careful not to ever mention Meghan Markle by name. However, she does touch on the ways her life has changed — and, reading between the lines, how her best friend’s — since a certain prince came into her life.
“[If] they decide they want to ruin somebody, they just will,” she said of tabloid culture, but noting she didn’t not expect it. “It comes with the territory.”
Calling out the negativity that surrounds the vicious royal media cycle, Mulroney — who is also rumoured to be Markle's private stylist — confirms she’s doing her best to stay positive.
"There are so many benefits to certain things, but then also a lot of negativity that you have to deal with at the same time. You have to stay positive.”
When asked directly about her relationship with the Duchess, Mulroney remains tight-lipped. “Listen, every person has to have a bit of privacy in their life. There are certain things I hold very dear and secret,” she said. “There are things I’ll never talk about for sure. My life is an open book, but there’s always a few secret pages in the back that nobody will be able to read.” Sound’s fair.
