John Mayer and Katy Perry went their separate ways back in 2014 but it seems he’s not over the relationship, admitting his new song ‘I still feel like your man,’ is about her.
“Who else would I be thinking about?” he said in an interview with The New York Times. “And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”
Lyrics in the song include, “I still keep your shampoo in my shower / In case you wanna wash your hair / And I know that you probably found yourself some more somewhere / But I do not really care”.
As well as, “Still like the letters in your name and how they feel, babe / Still think I’m never gonna find another you / Still like to leave the party early and go home, babe / And don’t you know, babe / I’d rather sit here on my own and be alone, babe.”
The song is off Mayer’s new album The Search for Everything, on which break ups seem to be the common theme.
But the star says he’s done with the playboy lifestyle, and would love to settle down and have a baby.
“I’ve inherited a younger man’s reputation. You can even break ‘bad boy’ into good bad boy and bad bad boy — I somehow managed to become a bad version of a bad boy.”
“I wish there was somebody to throw me the 40th,” Mayer added.
“I want the baby with the protective earphones [by the stage]. I’m right on time for my career, and I’m running late for my life.”
