What do you get the woman who has everything for her 81st birthday? Well if you’re Dame Judi Dench’s daughter you get her a tattoo!
In a new interview the actress revealed her daughter, Finty Williams took her to get a tattoo for her birthday.
And what does an Oscar-winning Dame choose as her ink of choice?
The words “Carpe Diem” on her wrist.
“That’s my motto: seize the day. Finty gave it to me for my 81st birthday—she’s wonderful with surprises,” Dench told Surrey Life.
It’s not the first time the actress has toyed with the idea of getting a tattoo, she famously got a fake tattoo of Harvey Weinstein’s name applied to her derrière – which she preceeded to show him over lunch at the Four Seasons in Hollywood.
She also previously told Good Housekeeping that she was toying with the idea of an Indian symbol, but she worried about whether or not she had the correct meaning.
“There’s an Indian symbol that I like which supposedly represents life and love and everything,” Dench said. “One of the cameramen who worked on The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel told me what it meant, but I’m a bit nervous in case I’m being set up. It might be unbelievably rude.”
