Canadian popstar Justin Bieber has revealed that he has been secretly battling Lyme disease and chronic mono. Taking to Instagram to address the many rumours surrounding his health, the 25-year-old spoke candidly and openly about his battles, writing, “While a lot of people kept saying justin Bieber looks like s–t, on meth etc. they failed to realize I’ve been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease, not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my, skin, brain function, energy, and overall health.”

Bieber also confirmed that his fans will be able to get a more intimate look into his health struggles in his upcoming YouTube documentary, that he hopes will help others “learn all that I’ve been battling and OVERCOMING!!”
“It’s been a rough couple years but getting the right treatment that will help treat this so far incurable disease and I will be back and better than ever NO CAP,” he shares.
Bieber’s post was met with an instant wave of support from fans and celebrity friends, Chance the Rapper commenting “GOD IS THE GREATEST NO CAP.” Justin’s wife, Hailey Bieber, has also been instrumental in his journey, remaining by his side as he sought answers for his then-mysterious condition.
Despite his challenges, it certainly seems as though the singer is on the right path. Last week he released a brand new single, titled Yummy, has an apparent album in the works, plans for a tour across the United States and of course, the release of his YouTube documentary, Justin Bieber: Seasons.
Bieber joins a list of celebrities who have spoken out about their battle with chronic illness – from Bella and Yolanda Hadid, who also suffer from Lyme disease, to ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez who has struggled with Lupus.
