“Today Has Been A Surprisingly Emotional Day.” Karen Ristevski’s Brother Speaks Out

Karen Ristevski's husband Borce Ristevski has been charged with murder

On Thursday, Borce Ristevski was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife, Melbourne fashion boutique owner Karen Ristevski, almost 18 months after her disappearance.

Following on from the arrest, Ms Ristevski’s brother Stephen Williams has spoken out about the murder charges and his family’s fight for justice.

“Today has been a surprisingly emotional day – one in which I have been patiently waiting for,” he says in the statement, the ABC reports.

“It is in no way a celebration, it’s another stage in bringing my beautiful sister Karen the justice she so deserves.”

Mr Williams added: “Again, a huge thank you the members of the Missing Persons Squad. Also to Emily, Lachlan, my cousins and work colleagues who have been very supportive these long 18 months.”

At Wednesday’s court hearing, Mr Ristevski’s lawyer Rob Stary said client would be pleading not guilty, The Age reports.

49-year-old Ms Ristevski disappeared from her Avondale Heights home on June 29, 2016. In February this year, her body was found in dense Victorian bushland 65km north of Melbourne and 52km from where she was last seen.
