Today host Karl Stefanovic and News Corp's Sarrah Le Marquand and Nine's finance editor Ross Greenwood discussed celebrity couples' right to privacy on the show this morning.
This is an issue that is very close to home for Karl, as news only recently broke of his own split from wife of 21 years, Cassandra Thorburn.
The topic came up in light of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce, announced late yesterday.
“You can obviously argue it is no one’s business what is going on inside there, but they are high profile, it is a tough one,” he said.
Sarrah Le Marquand took the stance that they are already so in the public eye, so it's inevitable that the news would break and people would be talking about it.
“You can’t expect anything other than for it to fold out before the media ... I definitely feel for them, but like I say, of course it is going to play out before the world,” said Le Marquand.
Karl though about the impact this would have on their children, too.
“That fishbowl, I would imagine, would be very difficult if you are living inside of it. Trying to repair or trying to look after your kids as well,” he said.
Karl Stefanovic recently moved out of his wife's house, and the pair have yet to comment on reports that their marriage is over.
