Kate Middleton Had Not One, But Two Royal Birthday Parties

Why not?

When your husband is the heir to the British throne, you’d assume an event like your 37th birthday wouldn’t be taken lightly. In the case of Kate Middleton, the royal celebrated this year’s milestone in royal style hosting not one, but two separate birthday parties.

On the royal’s actual birthday – January 9 – the Duchess of Cambridge decided to spend the day at home in Kensington Palace with her children.

According to Vanity Fair, Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all spent the day having a tea party.

“Kate’s not into big birthday celebrations,” a source told the publication. “But George and Charlotte adore birthday cake, so there will be a special tea party at the palace with candles and presents.”

However, the Duchess did have a second, larger birthday party which was held outside of London earlier in the week.

According to the royals-focused podcast On Heir, Kate reportedly had a private party on Sunday, January 6, at her and Will’s country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, England.

Reportedly in attendance at the evening’s party were Prince Louis’ godmother, Laura Meade, as well as Prince George’s godmother, Emilia Jardine Patterson, Kate’s friend from university.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not attend the celebration, the Sun reports, however why they were absent still remains unclear.

Kate’s last big birthday celebration was over six years ago, when the Duchess turned 31.

The royal went out with William, her parents, and her brother and sister to see a Cirque de Soleil show at the Royal Albert Hall. Kate was pregnant with Prince George then.

But since George’s birth, Kate has celebrated her birthday privately in the comfort of her home.

A source told E! News that last year Kate spent her 36th birthday “privately with William and the children. It’s just a quiet celebration at home. No big party.”
