Is Camel The Ultimate Transeasonal Shade? Kate Middleton Seems To Think So

Popping this look on our autumnal mood board.

There’s no question that the Duchess of Cambridge has enviable style.

With her penchant for Alexander McQueen and a recycled wardrobe, when Kate Middleton steps out for a royal appearance, you can bet we’re paying attention.

Take her latest look for instance. Attending a royal engagement with her husband Prince William, the Duchess made a case for camel as our go-to shade of the season, donning the autumnal hue head-to-toe while visiting the Clitheroe Community Hospital.

While the visit involved the royals meeting with healthcare workers and playing with a puppy, all eyes were on Kate’s monochromatic camel attire.

Channelling 90’s minimalism à la American ‘royal’ Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the Duchess wore a midi length turtleneck dress, suede boots and a perennially stylish Massimo Dutti camel trench coat.

If you think the coat looks familiar, you’d be correct.

The British Military-inspired coat has long been a staple in every Brit’s winter wardrobe (read: the quintessential Burberry trench), so it makes sense for the Duchess to gravitate towards the stylish outerwear.

In fact, the Massimo Dutti camel coat was a favourite of the Duchess in 2021, who stepped out in January and again in March in a similar ensemble.

While Ecru was the shade of summer, camel will be a fan favourite as the weather cools.

If you’re not convinced, allow us to draw your attention to Fendi’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection. It was Kim Jones’ first runway presentation as newly-appointed Artistic Director and the show ushered in a new wave of exploring neutral tones.

Camel was a focal point of the collection, with the monochromatic looks highlighting the stark simplicity and elevated luxury of the shade.
