Kate Middleton Steps Out For The First Time In Two Months In A Chic Cream Blazer

The Duchess met with military personnel who were involved in the Afghanistan evacuation.

Kate Middleton has broken her two-month hiatus from the spotlight for a very worthy cause.

The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in Oxfordshire on Wednesday, September 15 where she met with military personnel at the RAF Brize Norton. Those on-site spoke to the royal about their involvement in the recent evacuation mission in Afghanistan, which saw hundreds of people flown from the country after the Taliban takeover, which was completed in August.

For the poignant occasion, the 39-year-old wore a chic cream blazer by Reiss (a favourite designer of the Duchess’) along with a silk blouse in white, designed by Jane.

She added a pair of wide legged navy trousers and held a mini Tusting handbag throughout the engagement. And of course, one couldn’t look past the royal’s enviable locks, which were worn loose and straightened.

It was the first time we’d seen the Duchess of Cambridge in the flesh in around two months—so you couldn’t blame her fans for pouring over ever part of her perfectly put-together ensemble.

During the moving event, The Duchess met members of the armed forces as well as civilians who had been involved the evacuation mission.

Clearly touched by their stories, a Wing Commander later told PEOPLE Kate shared some special moments with guests.

“You can tell her, you can have a joke with her and there’s stuff there that will always be between them,” they explained.

“She was having a very personal discussion with them. Some of that would never leave that crowd.”

The engagement marked the Duchess’ first appearance after a lengthy summer break. She was last seen in London back in July, where she attended the Wimbledon finals and the EURO 2020 final.

It’s understood she and her family spent some time together for the summer before her two eldest children Prince George and Princess Charlotte returned to school.

Over the weekend, it’s also been widely reported that the family flew to France to attend the wedding of Kate’s brother James Middleton who married his longtime love, Alizée Thevenet.
