Kate Middleton’s Latest Style Statement Is An Off-Piste (Yet Perfect) Paisley Shirt

A retro queen.

Being a royal isn’t all ball gowns and tiaras—Kate Middleton can prove as much.

The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in London on Thursday to visit the V&A museum to see a unique collection of Fabergé eggs which have been loaned by the Queen.

Of course, the art pieces themselves were a sight to behold, but Kate’s outfit was also worth taking stock of, namely because she wore something a little off the beaten track (by her standards, at least)—a bright paisley shirt.

Yes, it was modest. Yes, its silhouette was as elegant as ever. But to see the Duchess in the closest thing to ’70s retro chic’ is a real moment in time that’s certainly not lost on us.

The 39-year-old Duchess’ funky printed shirt was courtesy of Ralph Lauren. She paired it with smart black trousers with a belt at the waist, and she wore her hair in a high pony tail.

To finish, she added some gold hoop earrings, which set the whole outfit off perfectly. Seriously, is there anything she can’t wear?

The exhibition, which showcases 200 bejeweled objects created by Carl Fabergé includes three famous decorative eggs owned by Queen Elizabeth.

The 39-year-old Duchess walked around the museum viewing the unique pieces with interest. Kate herself is no stranger to the arts—she studied an art history major while attending St Andrews University back in the early 2000s.

The outing marks the beginning of a busy month for Kate, who is expected to host a carol service at Westminster Abbey next week.

The royals will also attend a number of other festive events in the lead up to Christmas, and if Kate’s latest outfit is anything to go by, we can probably expect a real fashion extravaganza. Watch this space…
