Kate Middleton Shared An Outtake From Princess Charlotte’s Birthday Photoshoot

The royal turned 5!

Over the weekend, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released four photos the day before Princess Charlotte’s fifth birthday. Kate Middleton also decided to share a sweet outtake from the celebratory photoshoot to thank fans for their birthday wishes.

In the new portrait taken by the Duchess, Charlotte — who officially turned five years old May 2 —  is holding a bag of the homemade pasta she helped deliver to the elderly near Anmer Hall amid the coronavirus pandemic. Spotted in the same ruffled houndstooth dress she wore in the other photos, the young royal switched up her poses and focused her gaze downward.

“Thank you for all your lovely messages on Princess Charlotte’s fifth birthday!” the caption reads. “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a new photograph of Princess Charlotte.”

Previously released photographs show Charlotte sweetly sorting the packages of pasta (which she and Kate made the day before) and knocking on a neighbour’s door to drop off the delivery. “The photographs were taken in April by the Duchess on the Sandringham estate, where the family helped to pack up and deliver food packages for isolated pensioners,” the Palace previously revealed.

Charlotte and the rest of the Cambridge family may be celebrating in isolation, but that doesn’t mean other members of the family are forgetting about her big day.

Sharing a series of throwback images on Twitter, the Queen wrote: “A very Happy Birthday to Princess Charlotte who is celebrating her 5th birthday today.” She included a celebratory red balloon emoji and a recent portrait taken by mum Kate Middleton, in which Charlotte bears a striking resemblance to the 94-year-old monarch.
