Kate Middleton has reportedly been put in an awkward position this week, with the woman Prince William allegedly cheated on her with attending the same royal function on Monday.
Rose Cholmondeley, who is married to David Cholmondeley — the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley — was reported to have had an affair with Prince William, resulting in Kate completely severing ties with Rose, her former best friend.
The event, which was set to honour US President Donald Trump’s visit to the UK, saw both Rose and Kate in attendance and according to sources, Rose and David were seated “somewhat near” to the royal couple. The former friends have allegedly “phased” each other out of their lives since the affair rumours began, with Kate asking William to sever all ties with Rose, despite her prominent social standing.
While the Palace hasn’t yet denied the rumours, multiple sources have confirmed there was indeed an affair. However, it has been said that both sides of the feud have threatened legal action against the press.
So while we can’t be sure if the affair actually happened, it does seem that Kate and Rose are no longer friends — which would make for an awkward situation at any dinner party, royal or not.
