Kate Middleton’s Friend Wore A Wedding Dress Very Similar To Hers

But the Duchess of Cambridge didn't seem to mind

Kate Middleton‘s wedding dress is one of the most recognisable gowns of all time. For her 2011 nupitals to Prince William, the now-Duchess of Cambridge enlisted Sarah Burton to design her a one of a kind Alexander McQueen dress, rumoured to have cost a whopping $563,000 AUD.

Over the weekend, the royals attended the wedding of one of Kate’s closest friends, Sophie Carter, to Robert Snuggs.

The bride, who also happens to be Princess Charlotte’s godmother, wore a white lace bodice with a V-neck which dropped into a simple silk crepe from the waist down. She wore her hair pulled back into a sleek updo with a white headband and long veil.

For the occasion, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a blue Catherine Walker coat dress, which she first wore in July 2017.

But it was the Kate’s wedding dress everyone was talking about. Despite obvious differences in Carter’s and Middleton’s gowns, many pointd out the V-neck lace, long-sleeved top reminded them of the now-iconic Alexander McQueen design.

But Kate, who had likely seen her friend’s gown prior to the Big Day, didn’t seem to mind and the royal family were all smiles at the reception.

During their official wedding photos, Carter held goddaughter and bridesmaid Princess Charlotte in her arms, while Prince George was photographed dancing with the other pageboys.
