Kate Middleton’s three pregnancies have all been marred by one thing: hyperemesis gravidarum. The debilitating condition, often referred to as acute morning sickness, can last throughout pregnancy and is so severe it often requires hospitalisation.

Speaking at an awards ceremony for the Metropolitan and City Police Orphans Fund in London overnight, Prince William revealed how the Duchess of Cambridge is coping with the condition the third time round.

When 98-year-old Iris Orrell enquired after the Duchess’s health, he replied, “She’s been feeling better, thank you,” Hello! reports.

He then revealed Kate Middleton has tried a time-old morning sickness remedy in an attempt to alleviate her symptoms: ginger biscuits.

When Orrell asked whether the Duchess had tried dry biscuits (we can hear the sounds of women who’ve experienced hyperemesis gravidarum groaning from here), Prince William said yes. “Ginger biscuits,” he replied. “But there’s not much ginger can do to stop that. We’ve done all that.”

Whatever Kate Middleton’s medical team are doing, it seems to be working: Kensington Palace have confirmed the Duchess will make her first public appearance since announcing her pregnancy on October 10.
