This morning, we woke to the tragic news that iconic fashion designer Kate Spade had been found dead in her Upper East Side apartment.

The beloved designer, famed for her brand’s exuberant colour palettes and fun prints, was found by her housekeeper in what police say is an apparent suicide.

Now, scores of women have taken to Twitter to mourn Spade’s passing and reflect on their very first Kate Spade purchase:

I remember when I got my first Kate Spade bag in high school. It was my most prized possession. My current wallet ,covered in bees , makes me smile every time I see it- it’s by Kate Spade. My heart is just broken for her family and loved ones.

This is so sad. I remember growing up in the 90s and looking at Kate Spade bags with my friends.
