Kate Waterhouse Opens Up About Juggling Motherhood With A High-Profile Career

“Everything revolves around them”

On the pink carpet last night for Prix de marie claire, Australian media darling Kate Waterhouse was the very definition of glamour. Sparkling in a gold-flecked Alex Perry gown, you’d hardly guess she’d made a mad dash from her kitchen, where she’d been getting her two girls ready for dinner, to the star-studded event.

“It’s always a juggle,” the Lexus ambassador admits, saying she owed her polished appearance to a hair stylist and make-up artist who got her ready in about two seconds’ flat. “But it’s always such an exciting event to be part of.”

Waterhouse’s husband, former rugby league player Luke Ricketson, was on kid duty for the night. “Luke’s looking after our two little girls tonight,” she said. “We did the tag team – I left when he arrived.”

Waterhouse is careful to balance her career with motherhood, saying she considers herself lucky that she runs her own business and is able to “dictate her own hours” around the needs of her children.

“Motherhood has definitely changed me in so many ways,” she says. “Your children become your priority, everything revolves around them.”

“It also stops you from sweating the small stuff. Your priorities change.”
