Kendall Jenner Reportedly Feels “Very Upset” Over The Pepsi Ad Controversy

The model is currently laying low with her family.

Last week, Kendall Jenner was in the spotlight for reasons other than her skyrocketing fashion career and reality TV family.

The 21-year-old model faced extreme backlash for starring in a Pepsi ad, which was labelled tone deaf and went so viral that it was ultimately pulled altogether.

Though Pepsi was quick to issue a statement apologising for the ad, saying they “missed the mark” and “didn’t mean to make light of any serious issue,” Jenner has stayed quiet, apart from wiping any trace of the campaign from her social media accounts.

A source close to the family has now revealed that Kendall is “very upset” over the controversy and “she plans on laying low until things calm down”.

“She has been very upset. She feels terrible. She loves being a model,” they said to PEOPLE . “To get a Pepsi gig was a big deal. She was very excited. She never expected it to receive such backlash. She hopes people understand that she wasn’t involved in the creative process.”

The ad initially made headlines when it was compared to a moving image from a Black Lives Matter protest, and was criticised for minimalising the importance of the movement.
