Khloe Kardashian welcomed daughter True Thompson almost three months ago, and the new mama has opened up about her struggles with breastfeeding and why she eventually had to stop.
Like so many women, Khloe desperately wanted to breastfeed but it didn’t come easily to her, and despite her best efforts, it just didn’t work out.
A source told People that the reality star had always planned to breastfeed, but wasn't successful, “with a minimal milk supply, she just couldn’t sustain it,” they said.
“Khloé always wanted to breastfeed as long as she could. Before True was born, she was really excited about it and about having that bonding experience,” added the source. “She had to supplement and was worried people would judge her but then realised she wanted to be open and honest.”
Despite Twitter users offering up tips and tricks to help her with her supply, the star said she tried “every trick in the book”.
Khloe worried that people would judge her for not continuing, but felt such a relief once she finally made the decision to stop.
“I fought and fought to try and continue but then when I actually stopped, I didn’t realise what a relief it was for me to not stress and worry anymore,” she added.
”She was very aware of being healthy and keeping up her supply as much as she could,” continued the source. “She ate enough food, she drank a ton of water and she eased into working out, so that she didn’t overdo it. Bottom line is that Khloé is such an amazing mom to True. She’s a natural. And she’s going to stay focused on that and not listen to people who criticise her for any reason.”
Fans were quick to applaud the star for sharing her struggle and sharing their own stories, a good reminder to everyone that fed is best and every baby and mother is different and what they choose to do is no one’s business but their own.
