Everything We Know About ‘Killing Eve’ Season Four (So Far)

The last hurrah.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Killing Eve season three. Proceed at your own risk.

It’s official: Killing Eve is set to return for a fourth—and final—season.

That’s right, the critically acclaimed BBC America series will return for one last round, with the final season set to consist of eight episodes.

“Killing Eve has been one of my greatest experiences and I look forward to diving back into Eve’s remarkable mind soon,” series star Sandra Oh told Variety.

“I’m so grateful for all cast and crew who have brought our story to life and to the fans who have joined us and will be back for our exciting and unpredictable fourth and final season.”

Here, everything we know about Killing Eve season four—from the plot, cast and estimated release date.

What is the plot of Killing Eve season 4?

Killing Eve season four will naturally pick up where season three left off, with Eve working in a restaurant in the south of London and the Villanelle preparing to marry.

However, that’s not all we know. The show’s producer Sally Woodward Gentle has revealed a little teaser into what the fourth season will have in store.

“Eve and Villanelle, having left each other in total turmoil on Tower Bridge at the end of season 3, are thrown into season 4 trying to figure out what they mean to each other and what their lives now stand for,” Gentle said, as per Digital Spy.

“And while Carolyn has shot a man in cold blood, she is trying to find out who is responsible for the hit on her son. This one is going to be a lot more personal and passionate than the seasons before.”

While the specifics about season four of the book-turned-TV series remain under the wraps, the producers have revealed plans to extend the show’s universe via spinoff series (rejoice!), per Variety.

Which Killing Eve cast members are returning for season 4?

As expected, both Sandra Oh as Eve Polastri and Jodie Comer as Villanelle will reprise their roles for Killing Eve’s final season.

Speaking to Variety, Comer thanked the show’s fans while admitting that “all good things come to an end”.

Killing Eve has been the most extraordinary journey and one that I will be forever grateful for,” she said.

“Thank you to all the fans who’ve supported us throughout and come along for the ride. Although all good things come to an end, it’s not over yet. We aim to make this one to remember!”

Cast aside, the show has had an equally impressive lineup behind the scenes. In February 2020, Digital Spy also reported the appointment of Sex Education‘s Laura Neal as the writer of Killing Eve’s upcoming season.

“We have a remarkable squad of ferociously smart women writers passing the baton to each other on this show,” AMC’s Sarah Barnett said in a statement.

“[They are] aligned around a coherent vision but bringing it to life with their own specific sparkle and brilliance. Laura Neal is the latest incredible leader of the pack on Killing Eve.”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the mastermind behind Fleabag, was tasked with season one of the hugely successful series. Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) took the reins for season two and Suzanne Heathcote (Fear The Walking Dead) was responsible for season three.

As for how our favourite faces look for their last season on the show, new images have been released to whet our appetite for season four. Check them out below:

Is there a trailer for Killing Eve season 4?

Yes! Released on February 2, the official trailer for the fourth and final season of Killing Eve arrived and oh boy, are we in for a show.

In the two-minute trailer—that’s set to “Unchained Melody”—Eve and Villanelle confess to the violence they’ve inflicted on others. Villanelle seemingly wants to make amends for the damage she’s caused, even confiding in her therapist that she murdered two people the night before, but “tried not to”. But things take a concerning twist when Villanelle and Eve associate themselves with the fable of ‘The Scorpion and The Frog’, who both die at the end of the story—make of that what you will.
