Kim Kardashian Just Announced Seriously Impactful Prison Reforms

In the White House, of all places

Kim Kardashian West might be a lot of things, but lawyer and activist are now at the top of the list. The reality TV star has made her second visit to the White House, meeting with US President Donald Trump and announcing more prison reform initiatives.

Kardashian, who was invited back to the White House by invitation of Trump himself, spoke in front of press and government officials where she announced a new ridesharing program for recently released inmates.

The service, which aims to break down barriers for former prisoners, will see gift cards given out to make taxis and Uber more accessible for attending important meetings. Kardashian West confirmed she’s “proud” of the outcome and excited to work further with the Trump administration on reforming the way inmates and release prisoners are treated.

“It really does mean a lot to so many people that I’ve had the pleasure to speak to and I think the ultimate goal is everybody wants the community to be safe and the more opportunity we have and they have and the support that we help give them, the safer everyone will be. I’m just thankful to everyone here and so proud of the partnership with the ride organization so thank you,” she said.

Kardashian West also shared her journey in prison reform, explaining how she came to be at this point in her life.

“My whole journey with criminal justice reform started about a year ago when I came to see the president after speaking to Ivanka and Jared who really fought for me to get here. And I pled the case of Alice Johnson who the president granted clemency to. After that I really spent so much time going to different prisons ’cause I really had no connection to anybody on the inside and really just felt like for me, I’m at the place in my life that I wanted to make a difference and just wanted to do the right thing, but I didn’t know how or what to do or even really what was going on,“ she told the crowd.

Trump also spoke, confirming that Kardashian West will be one of the “most successful” lawyers once she finishes her law degree.

“I hear she’s starting to study law, she’s also one of the most successful people in the entertainment business, soon she’ll be one of the most successful lawyers,” he said while introducing her to stage.

No, we aren’t living in an alternative universe and yes, Donald Trump is President and Kim Kardashian is freeing prisoners. Well done, Kim!
