Kit Harington Finally Responds To A Popular Theory About Jon Snow

Is he 'The Prince That Was Promised'?

Winter is coming, and with it, the new season of Game of Thrones – finally!

We may have essentially found out the heritage of Jon Snow in the last season of the series, which was a popular fan theory for a good while.

But now we’ve got more questions. Specifically, is Jon Snow the figure in Melisandre’s prophecy about ‘The Prince That Was Promised’?

As the prophecy goes, the Prince That Was Promised is supposed to lead man into the war against the White Walkers, wielding a sword known as the Lightbringer. He is reborn from the mythical hero Azor Ahai, and will save the world from evil!

There is a lot of evidence that Jon Snow is the Prince That Was Promised, and his royal heritage would support the theory more, but The Huffington Post directly asked Kit Harington what he thought about the theory.

“I think you have to wait and see what happens this year, and if we find out anything more about Jon,” he said. “I think Jon would hate the term ‘The Prince That Was Promised.’

“If someone turned to him and said, ‘You’re The Prince That Was Promised,’ he just wouldn’t pay much attention. That’s what I love about him, so I don’t really care about it either. You know, I think that’s what’s great about him. He’s got very little ego on him.”

We certainly love that about him too. But that’s not really giving us a straight answer, so guess we’ll just have to wait until the next season to find out!

Game of Thrones hits screens in mid-2017.
