Kit Harington Was Forced To Confront His Worst Fear On Game Of Thrones

Filming that 'Battle of the Bastards' scene was not for the faint-hearted

Kit Harington has a fan in Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik. The British actor, 29 was recently made to confront his worst fears when filming a scene for the climactic ‘Battle of the Bastards’ and according to Sapochnik, took it like a trouper.

Harington, 29, made the mistake of confessing his phobia to the director, who took it upon himself to make the show’s star as uncomfortable as possible.

“Kit had mentioned to me that his worst fear is being buried alive,” says Sapochnik, “so I exploited that to its fullest—and being the amazing game player that he is, he let me.”

Apart from being brave, Harington has “humility, a sense of humour and a work ethic that is like a breath of fresh air for a director,” Sapochnik, who has also worked on True Detective, told The Hollywood Reporter. “I wish I could work with him on everything.”

Before the ‘Battle of the Bastards’, which saw Harington’s character Jon Snow pitted against arch enemy Ramsay Bolton, Snow was famously left for dead in last season’s cliffhanger finale only to be brought back to life in season 6.

The plot twist was one of showbiz’s most closely guarded secrets which few except Harington’s family (and a lone police officer who pulled him over) knew.
