Ksenija Lukich On How To Maintain A Happy, Healthy Relationship

The E! host and her partner have been dating for ten years

Ksenija Lukich’s has made a name for herself as one of the country’s biggest ‘It’ girls. Her light-up-the-room smile, quick wit and enviable pins have become a staple on almost every red carpet in Australia (and around the globe!).

Leading such a busy and jam-packed lifestyle, there’s one thing the E! host has grown to rely on – her partner of 10 years Dan Bragg.

The couple – whose romance started just like any other 20-somethings, after the brunette beauty slipped him her number – have spent a decade deciphering what it means to maintain a happy and healthy relationship. Speaking to marie claire Australia, Ksenija has laid bare some of her top tips for making it out the other side.

Honest communication

Despite being an obvious choice and ‘popular opinion’ when it comes to creating a happy relationship, Ksenija credits consistent honest and open dialogues as one of the most important aspects of her marriage.

Remove judgement and anger

“Instead of casting blame, tell them how it makes you feel,” she says. “Say things like, ‘I know you didn’t mean to hurt my feelings, but…'”

“This doesn’t always work and of course we both still lose our temper but it’s a nice thing to go back to.”

Timing is everything

For Ksenija, travelling comes with the job. So better than anyone, she knows how important quality time together is. “Too much time together and too little time together are both bad. Spending quality time together is essential but being alone and having space is a wonderful thing.”

Nobody’s perfect

“Know that neither of you or your partner are perfect, I know my flaws and Dan knows his,” Ksenija says with a laugh. “He can’t fold washing to save himself, but hey!”

Shared values

“While Dan and I have pretty different cultural backgrounds our values are the same and that is what’s most important!” Ksenija has a strong Serbian background, which was front and centre at the couple’s 2016 wedding. The ceremony was held in a traditional Serbian Orthodox Church in Ingleside, the first Serbian Orthodox Church in Australia which her grandfather helped establish.

Have a snoring room

We think this one might just be for some select couples, but hey, it’s all about compromise.
