The Chambre Syndicale du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode is the governing body of the French fashion industry, and determines which designers will show at Paris Fashion Week. Ellery has previously shown at Paris Fashion Week, but only one other Australian has been invited to the Chambre Syndicale, Collette Dinnigan.
WWD reports that Ellery, along with 5 other houses including Paco Rabanne, was elected as a full member of the organisation earlier this month.
"It's a great honour," says Jackie Frank, general manager fashion, beauty and health, Pacific Magazines. "It's wonderful recognition of years of hard work and creative talent."
Perth-born Kym Ellery moved her head office from Sydney to Paris earlier this year. Her distinctive, oversized silhouettes and use of super high-end fabrics have helped propel her into the real of the international fashion elite, with fans including Kim Kardashian and Lara Worthington.
