According to Deadline, the singer-turned-actress is preparing to take on the role of Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizo Gucci’s former wife, who was tried and convicted for plotting his assassination in 1995.

After Gucci – the last member of the family to run the luxury label – was shot outside of his office by a hitman, Reggiani was arrested and sentenced to 29 years in prison for her speculated role in his death.

The global media storm which ensued soon earned her the title of Italy’s ‘Black Widow’ but after serving 16 years, she was released in 2016 for good behaviour.

“If I could see Maurizio again I would tell him that I love him, because he is the person who has mattered most to me in my life,” Reggiani said back in 2016

When quizzed on what he would probably say in return, she simply replied: “I think he’d say the feeling wasn’t mutual.”

British filmmaker Ridley Scott will bring the notorious tale to the big screen with screenwriter, Roberto Bentivegna, drawing inspiration from book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.

It’s the first major Hollywood project Lady Gaga has undertaken since her history-making lead role as Ally in 2018 remake A Star Is Born.

The hit movie directed by Bradley Cooper saw the songstress become the first person to have won an Oscar, Grammy, BAFTA and Golden Globe within a single year – not something to be sniffed at.

Scott’s upcoming movie has long been in the works with rumours that Angelina Jolie would take on the role now secured by Gaga first emerging more than a decade ago.
