Is Lady Gaga Feuding With Ricki-Lee Coulter Over A Necklace?

Who wore this Tiffany & Co. necklace first?

If we told you that one day there would be a potential feud between Grammy winning, mega famous superstar Lady Gaga and former Australian Idol contestant Ricki-Lee Coulter, would you believe us? Well, that day has come, people — and it’s weirder than we expected.

The matter in question pertains to a necklace, a Tiffany and Co. necklace, to be specific. Actually, it’s the necklace Lady Gaga wore to the Golden Globe Awards this week — the one she paired with a certain periwinkle Valentino gown and virtually broke the internet.

Name the Aurora style, the necklace features a statement neckline, complete with drip diamond detailing and a huge, 20-carat teardrop centrepiece, which hangs from below the main part of the style. Packed with 300 diamonds, the necklace is definitely a crowd-stopping piece, and there’s no doubt it attracted attention. Made specifically for the A Star Is Born actress, Gaga’s stylists confirmed it was indeed a custom piece for the Golden Globes, releasing a statement on the day.

“The Tiffany Aurora necklace, specially crafted for Lady Gaga and today’s Globes, captures the majestic nature of her dress perfectly,” Sandra Amador and Tom Eerebout said.

However, one Australian singer, Ricki-Lee Coulter doesn’t think so.

Taking to Instagram this week, Ricki-Lee couldn’t hide her excitement that she too had worn the very same necklace — eight years ago and in Melbourne. Posting side by side images of the necklaces in question to her feed, Ricki-Lee gushed over the coincidence.

“I was just drooling over @ladygaga ‘s AMAZING outfit at the @goldenglobes & went ‘OMGGGGGGGGG I’VE WORN THAT!!!’” she wrote. “ I had the honour of wearing it to a Tiffany & Co event in Melbourne back in 2011 and although it wasn’t the Golden Globes – I still felt like an absolute princess wearing a necklace that they told me at the time was worth over $10Million.”

However, Lady Gaga wasn’t having it, taking to her Instagram (days after the event) to remind fans that no, the piece was custom.

“I felt like a princess in custom Tiffany & Co. made just for me for the Golden Globes. The Aurora necklace was named after the Aurora Borealis as an homage to A Star Is Born,” she wrote.

Ricki-Lee has since responded to critics saying it was a different necklace, writing on Instagram that the necklace she wore had a different name — but they are extremely similar.

“The one I wore was called The Majestic – look it up – they look exactly the same to me,” she wrote. “Also, I posted this as soon as I saw it and before any of this talk of it being custom made for her. I simply saw it on her and went, “OMG that’s so cool!”

This might not be a Kanye/Drake level of feud just yet, but Ricki-Lee’s comparisons certainly didn’t get past Lady Gaga this time.
