Watch Lady Gaga’s Star-Studded Global Citizen Coronavirus Relief Concert

The global special will celebrate and support healthcare workers in the fight against COVID-19

The World Health Organisation and Global Citizen have teamed up to organise a star-studded virtual benefit show to aid healthcare professionals who are battling the coronavirus pandemic – and it was full of show-stopping performances.

On April 6, the two organisations shared the news during WHO’s virtual press conference, announcing the One World: Together at Home special, which will raise money through the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund – a charity which provides healthcare workers on the front lines with masks, gowns and other vital equipment.

Speaking alongside WHO and Global Citizen was pop star Lady Gaga, who has been working in collaboration with the two organisations to organise the April 18 special. The star-packed event features global artists the likes of Billie Eilish, Chris Martin, Elton John, Lizzo, John Legend, Stevie Wonder and several more. Late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert, alongside the cast of Sesame Street, will host the event.

“We are all so very grateful to the healthcare professionals across the country and the world – this global pandemic is a catastrophe; I’m praying for them and also those who are sick,” Lady Gaga said during the virtual press conference, via live stream from her home.

“I would like to send my prayers to people who are losing their jobs and having a hard time feeding themselves and their children.”

During the press conference, Gaga also revealed that over the last seven days working with corporate leaders, tech companies and philanthropist, they had already raised a total of $35 million USD towards COVID-19 relief.

In addition to the celebrity cameos and performances, the special will also share the real experiences of frontline doctors, nurses and families from around the world.

“As we honour and support the heroic efforts of community health workers, One World: Together At Home aims to serve as a source of unity and encouragement in the global fight to end COVID-19,” said Hugh Evans, co-founder and CEO of Global Citizen.

“Through music, entertainment and impact, the global live-cast will celebrate those who risk their own health to safeguard everyone else’s.”
